Are Ford Contours fast?

Might be getting one for free from my aunt in great condition and looking to put around a grand or two into it, that is, if its worth it. Does anyone know if they can be fast? I was thinking of buying a body kit for it as this one looks alot better with one: http://www.prostreetonline.com/pso/images/products/4378_m.jpg. Also, is there anything I can buy for it to make it faster?
