Fox news stated that people who text/email a lot are mentally ill. Does the same apply to Y.A. ?

I often joke that when I leave y!a for longer than a week I'm on an "attempted detox". I think even y!a can be addictive and if you consider addiction a mental illness then the answer to your question is yes.
