Is it possible to retrieve power back from the monolithic corporations that run the world?

In 1886, the Supreme Court decided upon the case of Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad, finding that the corporation was a legal entity with the same rights, if not moreso, as human beings. It's been downhill ever since with vertical monopolies with greater power than most nation-states plaguing the United States with their armies of lobbyists, and manipulating the politics of third-world countries. According to the Sonny Bono Amendment, copyrights on characters such as Mickey Mouse may never be in public domain. How can we allow this? Can't something be done as human beings relating to human beings, rather than humans facing off against monstrous abstractions that dictate what is and what shall be?
