What is a function of proteins?

Great answer already up, but I disagree with his conclusion on the first answer. Proteins do all of the above, but their most important role is D, controlling chemical reactions. Proteins are the main part of the "factories" that replicate our DNA and transcribe it to RNA and other proteins. These are complex chemical reactions that we depend on to grow and reproduce.
